# Transcript

> Yuri writes a transcript when he stored video, audio, or images. YouTube and generic web pages have no transcript because he did not download the file.

A transcript is the words Yuri heard or read in the media he stored.

## When does a transcript exist?

When Yuri stored a video, audio, or image. He writes it at save time.

He does not invent speech for a silent video. He does not treat background music as words.

## When is it missing?

[YouTube](/sources/youtube) and [other websites](/sources/web) store metadata only. There is no file to transcribe. The menu hides Transcript.
